James Oxford (Men's Basketball)

James Oxford, a 1971 graduate of Shorter, ended his basketball career on the Hill as the program’s most prolific rebounder. Named the team’s Most Valuable Player in 1969-70, Oxford set Shorter’s single-season rebounding record with 403. Oxford went on to break his own rebounding record the next season as a co-captain, earning All-GIAC and GIAC All-Tournament honors after pulling down 437 rebounds. 40 years later, Oxford’s 30 rebounds in a single game still stands as a Shorter record.
