Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Hampered by turnovers, the Shorter Lady Hawks had trouble getting on track when host Alabama-Huntsville claimed a 73-58 Gulf South Conference win Thursday night.
The Lady Hawks, who turned the ball over 24 times, are now 5-16 overall and 3-12 in the GSC heading into their next conference game Sunday when Shorter hosts West Alabama at the Winthrop-King Centre at 2 p.m.
Against the Lady Chargers (13-8, 8-7), Shorter saw Huntsville score 29 points off of turnovers, off-setting a 23-18 edge the Lady Hawks had in points off the bench.
Shorter matched UAH point for point during the first 14 minutes of the game but saw the Lady Chargers take command in the closing minutes of the first half by outscoring the Lady Hawks 16-6 to take a 41-31 halftime lead.
Leading the charge off the bench for Shorter was
Shaundrika Mann who led the Lady Hawks with a team-high 14 points.
Ieshia Alexander and
Karisma Boykin also finished in double figures for Shorter with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Jordan Smith led the Lady Chargers with a game-high 18 points and teammate Jasmine Hammon had 16 that made her the first UAH player to score 2,000 career points.
