Redus and Singleton Earn All-Conference Honors

ROME- Amiya Redus and Chelsy Singleton of the Shorter Women's Basketball team were named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference team as announced by the league on Wednesday. Redus earned a second-team nod while Singleton earned third-team honors. 


Amiya Redus led the Hawks with 16.6 points (7th in conference) and recorded 2.0 steals per game (sixth in conference). Redus proved to be a pure scorer for the Hawks, dropping a career-high 41 points on Flagler at the start of the season, which earned her offensive player of the week honors. Redus' 41 points mark the most by a Hawk in the DII era. The Tanner, Alabama, native was also a threat on defense, recording four or more steals in five games. Redus appeared in all games,  starting in 25 while playing a full 40 minutes 12 times. Redus's sophomore season was a huge jump in production from her freshman campaign, showcasing her potential for the Hawks for the future. 


Chelsy Singleton had a very impressive first year with the Hawks. Singleton averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.3 steals, showcasing her all-around nature. The Northwestern State transfer proved to be a major contributor for the Hawks, having eight 20-plus point performances, including a career high of 24 points against Southern Wesleyan. Singleton's defensive ability was also showcased this season, leading the team in steals as well as being in the top five in the conference. There were five instances where she recorded four or more steals this season. Singleton was recognized as offensive player of the week by the conference for her stretch against North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan, in which she totaled 42 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.


Redus and Singleton look to keep Shorter's tournament run alive as they travel to Spartanburg to face off against #5 Lees-McRae this Friday at 6:00 PM. '
