Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Shorter Hawks fell on the opening day of the Sam Baldwin Invitational in a 6-1 final in game one, before falling in game two 9-4.Â
GAME ONE
After giving up a trio of runs in the first two innings,
Rylee Gattis got the Hawks on the board with an RBI single shot to left field to make it a 3-1 affair. Solid pitching from the Chargers helped slow down the Hawks' offense, allowing just two hits in the opening contest of the day. UAH would drive in two more in the fourth to put them in the driver's seat for the remainder of the game. Shorter continued to fight, but would fall in a 6-1 defeat.Â
GAME TWO
Shorter struggled to get their offense going, as they fell behind 3-0 after the first inning. UAH tacked on four more runs before the Hawks drove in their first run. Shorter capitalized on pitching woes from the Chargers, scoring another off a wild pitch before Bray;eigh Leone drove in two on an RBI double to make it a 7-4 game.Â
Despite the Hawks' effort, the Chargers proved to be too much, scoring two more runs in the sixth, as Shorter fell in a 9-4 final.

UP NEXT
The Hawks will look to bounce back as they face Kentucky Wesleyan tomorrow in Huntsville, with game one slated for an 11:00 AM start, followed by game two.Â
