ROME- The Shorter Hawks Softball team is looking to bounce back this weekend as they travel to Huntsville to compete in the Sam Baldwin Memorial Invitational hosted by University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).
The Lady Hawks will begin playing on Friday, as they take on UAH in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. (CST). Saturday, they will look to close out the weekend against Kentucky Wesleyan College in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. (CST). All games will be live-streamed via FLOCOLLEGE, with live stats available as well.
NOTES
- The Lady Hawks' 2026 campaign has been a battle so far, looking to rally back this weekend.
- Ashton Stevens and Lizzy Mitchell have been consistent in the batter's box, as Mitchell leads the team with 10 hits, and Stevens is coming off a good performance Tuesday.
- The Chargers enter the Invitational with an 8-3 record, having competed against multiple quality opponents.
- Kentucky Wesleyan has had a slow start to the 2026 year, dropping three of their first four.
- The Hawks are 9-22 against UAH all-time, having not faced them since 2024 in Shorter's last season in the Gulf South Conference.
- Shorter is 2-1 against Kentucky Wesleyan all-time; the last time these teams faced each other was in the 2023 season.
