GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Shorter Baseball team was selected to finish 9th in the Conference Carolina's Preseason Poll as announced by the league on Friday.
The Hawks received 75 points in the poll, placing above Erskine who received 58 points and King who had 48 respectively. North Greenville and Francis Marion were picked to finish first in the polls, with both teams receiving 149 points and gaining four first place votes.
Tyler Zawacki,
Drake Cobb, and
Wilmer Henriquez were listed as Players to Watch by the conference for the upcoming 2026 season.
Tyler Zawacki is coming off an impressive 2025 campaign, in which the outfielder started and appeared in 46 games, batting a team-leading .364 while also recording 59 hits, 41 RBIs, and nine home runs. Zawacki had a .642 slug percentage followed by an impressive .933 fielding percentage.
Drake Cobb is another exciting addition to the Hawks roster. Cobb spent the last season at Palomar College where he appeared in 33 games, recording 42 hits, 28 runs, 34 RBIs, and a home run.
Wilmer Henriquez rounds out the Players to Watch list for Shorter. Henriquez played for Cameron University in the 2025 season, where he appeared in 37 games on 33 starts. The New Brunswick, New Jersey native recorded 44 hits, 27 RBIs, and four home runs.
The Hawks will kick off the regular season on the weekend of January 31st, where they will travel to Memphis, Tennessee to compete in a weekend series against Christian Brothers. First pitch for game one will take place at 1:00 PM with game two to follow after.
