Jonathan Pintaro Set to Make Debut for Mets

ROME, Ga.- Jonathan Pintaro, former Shorter right-handed ace, received his first call-up to the majors after showcasing his potential in the Mets organization this past year.

During his time at Shorter, Pintaro built together a storied career. From 2019-2023, he achieved a 27-12 record with a 3.44 career ERA while also striking out and astounding 377. In his junior season, Pintaro broke the school record for strikeouts in a season by putting out 150 batters. From 2021-2022, Pintaro's accolades increased as he earned back-to-back Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Year awards and was a First Team All-GSC selection. Pintaro was also named All-Region-Pitcher of the Year with First Team All-Region honors from D2CCA, NCBWA, and ABCA. His accolades continued in the following year, earning another First Team All-Region selection from ABCA and receiving a Second Team All-Region honor from both D2CCA and NCBWA. At the end of his career, Pintaro was a five-time All American and established himself as one of the best to take the mound for the Hawks.

Pintaro was signed by the Mets in June of 2024, and quickly rose up the ranks of the organization. Pintaro most recently had a brief stint with the Mets Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse before he got the call up. In his career, Pintaro has built an ERA of 2.94, earning three wins while recording 132 strikeouts.

Pintaro will make history tonight as he becomes the second player from Shorter to appear in an MLB game following Bob Long. Pintaro will look to get the Mets back to their winning ways as they face off against the Atlanta Braves tonight in New York at 7:10 PM.
