CENTRAL, S.C. - The Shorter Hawks traveled to Central, South Carolina, for their final series of the season and opened with a 5–4 win over Southern Wesleyan.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings before Reece Newberry broke the tie with a two-run home run in the fourth, giving Shorter a 2–0 lead. In the fifth, Cameron Adams came home on Griffin Tamucci's sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to three runs. Southern Wesleyan responded in the sixth with an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly, cutting the deficit to 3–2. Drake Cobb answered in the seventh with a two-run homer, scoring Tamucci and pushing the Hawks' lead to 5–2.
The Warriors made things interesting in the eighth, capitalizing on an RBI single and an error to pull within one run. However, Shorter held on to secure the 5–4 victory and its seventh conference win of the season. Logan Bryson delivered another strong performance on the mound, tossing eight innings with six strikeouts and no walks. Colby Schachtner closed the door in the ninth, adding a strikeout while allowing no walks.

The Hawks will look to clinch the series—or complete a sweep—against Southern Wesleyan on Saturday. Game two is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST, with game three to follow at 4:00 p.m. EST. All games will be streamed live on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.
