Hawks Drop Conference Opener to Lee 1-2

Rome, Ga. – The Hawks took on Lee University in the first Gulf South Conference game series of the season. It was a competitive rivalry weekend at Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex, with the Hawks winning one game out of the three-game series.   Game 1 – Shorter 3, Lee 10 The Hawks got on the board in the 6th inning on a 2-run homerun by Levi Maddela. The Hawks' final run of the game came from a single by Tommy Schroder, IV, scoring one. 
Simon Aluko started on the mound for the Hawks, pitching one inning and giving up one run. Cole McDaniel pitched three innings, giving up 4 runs, followed by Collin Perkins, who also pitched three innings and gave up 1 run. Manato Tateno, Coy Martin, Aiden Berggren, and Matt Navarro also pitched for the Hawks.

Game 2 – Shorter 6, Lee 4
The Hawks got an early lead in the bottom of the 3rd off an RBI single by Griffin Clark. Jacob Pajer had a sacrifice fly in the 7th, scoring Logan Stockton. Griffin Clark followed with an RBI double. Logan Stockton had a sacrifice fly in the 8th inning, securing the Hawks's win. 
On the mound for the Hawks to start the game was Seth Crowe, pitching 6.1 innings and giving up four runs. Blayne Fritcher closed for the Hawks, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings. 
Game 3 – Shorter 3, Lee 12
In the final game of the series, the Hawks got on the board with RBI singles by Justin Barnes and Jace Armstrong. The final run for the Hawks came in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI sacrifice by Tommy Schroeder, IV.
Tanner Folds started on the mound for the Hawks, pitching 1 inning, giving up 8 runs. Coy Martin, Tyler Camp, Manato Tateno, Caleb McGinnis, and Landon Maynard also pitched for the Hawks.
