Hawks Knock Off the Choctaws

ROME, Ga. – The Hawks had a home series at Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex this weekend, where they took on Mississippi College in a three-game conference series. 

 
Game 1 – Shorter 11, Mississippi College 7
The Hawks got on the board in the 1st inning on a 2-run homerun by Alex Brodie. Brodie also had a 2 RBI double in the 2nd. Kobie Jones had a solo homerun in the 4th, followed by a double by Logan Stockton. Jacob Pajer had a 3-run homerun in the 7th inning. Caleb McGinnis started on the mound for the Hawks. Cole McDaniel pitched 5 innings. Also on the mound for the Hawks were Landon Maynard, Blayne Fritcher, and Matt Navarro

Game 2 – Shorter 8, Mississippi College 11
The Hawks got their first run in the 6th inning on a wild pitch that scored Justin Barnes. Later on in the contest, Norman Leon had an RBI single, a 2-run homer, and a 2 RBI single in the 6th, 8th, and 9th innings, respectively. The Hawks relied heavily on the bullpen in game two, including pitchers Carter Shall, Coy Martin, Collin Perkins, Matt NavarroManato Tateno, Aaron Martin, Blayne Fritcher, Tyler Camp, Darrell Johnson, and Simon Aluko.

 
Game 3 - Shorter 11, Mississippi College 6
In the final game of the series, the Hawks got on the board in the first inning with walks, an RBI singles by Thomas Schorder IV and Kody Krause. Justin Barnes had an RBI single in the 3rd and Thomas Schroeder IV had a 2 RBI double. Logan Stockton had an RBI single in the 6th to top off an 11-run day for the Hawks. Tanner Folds pitched 3 innings for Hawks and Seth Crowe pitched 4 innings earning the win, each giving up three runs.

The Hawks will travel to Pensacola, Fla. for a tough conference match-up against the University of West Florida Argonauts this weekend. They will play a single game Friday at 5PM (CST) and a doubleheader beginning at 1PM (CST) on Saturday.
