Shorter University Football Program Experiences Powerful Spiritual Awakening
Â
ROME, Ga. – Shorter University's football program has witnessed a remarkable spiritual transformation within its team. On Sunday, August 11th, 48 players made a life-changing decision to give their lives to Christ during a powerful service at Life Church. Just one week later, following an intense scrimmage, 16 student-athletes took the next step in their faith journey by getting baptized, publicly declaring their commitment to Christ.
This incredible movement aligns perfectly with Shorter University's mission of "Advancing God's Kingdom through a commitment to academic excellence, spiritual growth, Christian leadership, and global service within the context of a biblical worldview."
Head Coach, Zach Morrison expressed his awe and gratitude for the work God is doing within the program. "This is more than just football. It's about the lives that are being transformed on and off the field. Seeing these young men take such bold steps in their faith is a testament to God's power and presence in this program."Â Shorter University Defensive Coordinator Harlen Jacobs added, "We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes. This is the best decision they will ever make."
The Shorter Hawks football team continues to work hard in preparation for the upcoming season, now with a renewed sense of purpose and unity. The team invites the community to pray and support them as they pursue success both on the field and in their walk with Christ. The team opens up with Mississippi College on September, 4th at Barron Stadium at 7 PM.
