Box Score FRANKFURT, Ky.- The Shorter Football team's season concluded against Kentucky State Saturday afternoon in a 35-7 defeat at Alumni Field.
The Hawks fell behind early, giving up three scores in just six minutes of action.
Jeb Walls helped the Hawks get some points on the board as he found
Lanear McCrary Jr. on a six-yard receving touchdown to make it a two-possession game.
Shorter defensively did a much better job of containing Kentucky State in the second quarter, but struggled to capitalize on offense. The hosts would add one more touchdown just before the half as the Hawks entered the locker room behind 28-7.
Shorter's offense continued to struggle at the start of the second half, but remained strong defensively, keeping the hosts at bay for the entirety of the third quarter. The hosts would add in one more score off a Hawks' turnover late in the fourth to make it a 35-7 final.
Lanear McCrary Jr. talled in an impressive performance for the Hawks, rushing for 145 yards on 25 carries and a receiving touchdown. McCrary Jr, finishes the season with 1,023 rushing yards, becoming the first Hawks' back to reach 1,000 yards in a season since BJ McCoy rushed for 1,508 yards in the 2015 season.
