ROME- Head Coach
Zach Morrison has announced the signing of 67 new additions to the Shorter Hawks Football program.
The Hawks signed 60 high school prospects and seven transfers, including three from Division I.
This class is special because of who these young men are," said Head Coach
Zach Morrison. "Yes, they can play football at a high level, but more importantly, they want to be developed spiritually, mentally, and physically. That matters to us. We're building men first, players second. "Our program is unapologetically rooted in Christ. We believe football is a platform, not the purpose. These young men understand that, and they chose Shorter because they want to grow in their faith while competing at a high level."
The Hawks bring in several marquee players on offense, including Brandon Ridley. Ridley amassed over 4,500 all-purpose yards and 34 touchdowns in his career, proving his versatility on both sides of the ball. Jordan Do is another elite presence joining the quarterback room. Do was a two-time all-state selection, Gwinnett County QB of the Year, and Region Player of the Year. Shorter also brings in a talented tailback room with signees such as Kelston Tarver, Gavin Hall, and Ethan Corpus. In the receiving department, Langston Butler, Ammon Womble, Skip Smith, and Michael Kennon join the roster as they look to contribute in a major way. The offensive line received a major upgrade in the offseason, signing one of the strongest groups in recent history, bringing in players such as Will Anderton, Conner Wellingham, Kingston Fitzhugh, Logan Stevens, and Luke Reece.
On defense, the Hawks brought in elite talent with names like Roman Dickerson, Alex Jean, Dinari Reid-Fallen, and Emmanuel Johnson, who bring strength and power to the line. JoJo Gray and Na'Zeel Mitchell will look to set the tone in the linebacker room as the pair brings defensive intensity. The secondaries for Shorter will also be threats. Jamel Bagget, Rocco Barbee, Devin Clark, and Brock Ryan are notable additions who will aim to impact the game. A few other notable additions to the defense are Quinton Moss and Nieem Blair.
For special teams, the Hawks signed Clark Atlanta transfer Carlos Lopez who has a proven track record with all-conference honors. Karson Griffith, Colt Davis, Jarrett Wilson, and Chris Quinn are other additions to the special teams who look to make an impact.
