Shorter Announces 2026 Football Schedule

ROME, Ga.- Shorter football announced its 2026 schedule on Tuesday, with five games being played at Barron Stadium and five being played on the road. The Hawks will also feauture six conference games in the 2026 campaign.

The season opens on Aug. 29 when the Hawks host NAIA opponent Andrew College in week zero. Shorter follows up the week after with a contest against Benedict College at Barron Stadium on Sept. 5, marking the first meeting between both teams.

Conference Carolinas play begins for the Hawks on Sept. 12, when they host UNC Pembroke. Shorter will then hit the road for the first time on Sept. 26 as they face Erskine before following with a contest against former Gulf South foe Delta State on Oct. 3. The Hawks are 0-10 all-time against the Statesmen, hoping to snap the streak. The Hawks will return to Rome, where they will host Ferrum on Oct. 10, looking to change the narrative after a tough loss in the 2025 campaign.

The Hawks will then travel to Tigerville, South Carolina on October 17 where they will face off against defending conference champions North Greenville before facing off against Valdosta State on Oct. 24. Shorter will host Barton for their home finale on Halloween before closing out the regular season on the road against Chowan on Nov. 7. The Hawks claimed one of their two wins of the season against Barton last year in a dominating 31-7 rout.

"Entering year two in Conference Carolinas, our expectations have grown", said Head Coach Zach Morrison. "We're no longer just learning the league, we're competing to impact it. This offseason has been about development, discipline, and building a team that plays with toughness and purpose. We expect to compete at a high level every week and represent our program the right way.  Football is our platform, and Christ is our purpose."
