Spring Football... Grit and Determination

Rome, GA – On a brisk February morning Shorter Football hit the field and showed grit and determination throughout each drill and competition.  Offensive Coordinator Blake Robles said of the morning, "I am so excited about Spring and the work being put in.  There was an energy in the air today.  We have some major goals for this offseason, and we want to improve on this offensive production from this past year." The Hawks finished 24th in the country in passing touchdowns and 1st in the country in fewest turnovers.  Coach Robles concluded, "The leadership knows what to do, we must execute at all levels to be successful."

Defensive Coordinator Harlen Jacobs said, "We have a lot of room for improvement, but the team is working extremely hard."  After improving to the 4th overall in total defense in the Gulf South Conference the Hawks are hungry for the top spot.

Coach Morrison raved about this morning and the leadership shown, "The team is continuing to build Brick by Brick every single day! I am proud of the effort, attitude and toughness on the field this morning."

Rising Senior Defensive Lineman, Ryan Richardson spoke about this morning, "I felt like everyone was fighting through each drill and there was some amazing encouragement within each group.  I saw a lot of accountability and leadership from multiple players on different teams."  Freshman, John Michael Hughes who is a part of John Dietl's team was excited as he left the field, "I love to see my team compete! We put in great work and each encouraged one another to be better."

The Punt, Pass and Kick Competition concluded the day for the Hawks. At the end of the morning Team Dietl 1st, Team Trey Thomas 2nd, Team Ryan Richardson 3rd, Team Lewis 4th and Team Price Campbell 5th.  Overall team scores have been updated below.
