Box Score ROME, Ga.—Shorter softball ended the series with Delta State on Sunday with a 8-3 loss.
The Lady Hawks end the weekend 3-8 overall, while the Lady Statesmen improve to 6-6 overall to win the series 2-1.
Delta State pushed the first run across the plate in the top of the second, 1-0.
Shorter came back to tie the score with a single from
Kaylee George to score
Hannah Morales,1-1.
Lady Statesmen, Taylor Picou blasted a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to take the lead,3-1.
Bottom of the fourth rolls around and
Colbi Ballard hits a double to center field to score Paytn Crips, 3-2.
The Lady Hawks remained scoreless in the fifth and sixth while Delta State got a rally going to score five runs in three innings.
The Hawks down 8-2 heading into the bottom of seven.
Payton Tuder singles up the middle, the Combs lines out to center field. George doubled to left center to score Tuder, 8-3. Then
Carlee Graham singles up the middle to advance George to third. But the Lady Statesmen defense stays strong to record the final out of the series.
George led the Lady Hawks by going 3-4 with a double and two RBI. Graham and Ballard went 2-3.
Shorter will be back in action at Alto Park on Wednesday, February 23 against Union University with first pitch scheduled for 12p.m.
