Box Score ROME--Lady Hawks' softball earned a trip to the NCCAA South Region Championship game Wednesday afternoon with a 1-0 win over North Greenville Tuesday afternoon.
Shorter improved to 37-10 on the season, while North Greenville moved to 28-17 with the loss after topping Judson College, 6-3, in the first game of the day.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when
Ericka Bynum delivered the blow for the Lady Hawks driving a solo homerun over the center field wall for the only run of the game.
Christina Ezell earned her 19th win of the season; throwing a complete game, one hit shutout. Over seven innings she recorded seven strikeouts. Cassi Carpenter recorded the loss for the Crusaders, allowing one run on six hits with four strikeouts over six innings of work.
Bynum and
Kendall Johnson each recorded two hits for Shorter, while
Megan Christensen and
Kameron Carter each had one hit.
The Lady Hawks will play for the South Region Championship and a spot in the NCCAA National Championship Tournament Wednesday afternoon at 1:00pm against the winner of game with Judson and North Greenville at 11:00am.
