Box Score 2 Bristol, Tenn.--Softball took the field for the final time this week in Tennessee, sweeping a doubleheader at King University. Game scores were 11-3, and 11-0.
The wins improve the Lady Hawks to 15-6 on the season, and give Shorter a nine game win streak.
The Lady Hawks scored three times in the first inning of Game One to take the lead.
Maggie Meachum led off the scoring when she scored on an error, and
Kayla Cooper's 2RBI single later in the inning brought in
Jackie Castaneda and
Felicia Morris.
King cut the lead to one in the third on 2-run homer, and tied the game in the fourth on single.
Shorter added seven runs in the sixth inning to earn the win. Morris and
Megan Christensen both singled to drive in two each. And,
Paige Rowland, Morris, and Castaneda scored on an error.
In the seventh the Castaneda made it an 11-3 game on a double that plated Meachum.
Christina Ezell earned the win for Shorter, allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts over seven innings of work.
The Lady Hawks did all the scoring in Game Two; scoring four in the second, five in the third, and one in both the fourth and fifth en route to the 11-0 win.
Maddie Bray earned her first win of the season pitching the complete game, allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
Morris finished the day with five hits and five RBI; while both, Cooper and Christensen, finished with five hits and three RBI.
Shorter will be back in action Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9, as No. 2 Alabama Huntsville visits Alto Park. Games will begin at 1:00pm both days.
