Box Score ROME--Shorter softball completed the three game sweep of the Lady Flames from Lee Sunday afternoon with an, 8-0, five inning win.
The win improved the Lady Hawks to 22-9 on the season and 12-4 in conference play. Lee moves to 13-16 overall and 6-9 in the Gulf South Conference.
Shorter got on the board in the second inning on a 3-run homer from
Maggie Meachum that plated
Gracie Ayers and
Paige Rowland. That would prove to be all that was needed, but the Lady Hawks didn't stop there.
In the fourth, Shorter added three runs. First,
Kayla Cooper scored on an error, and then
Jackie Castaneda came in on a wild pitch;
Ericka Bynum picked up where she left off yesterday with an RBI single to plate
Felicia Morris, and give the Lady Hawks the lead, 6-0.
Kendal Johnson connected on a bunt single in the fifth, to plate
Tori Willingham, and then scored on a fly out to give Shorter the win, 8-0.
Kalei Kimbrell earned the win for the Lady Hawks; allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts over three innings of work. Angie Hughes recorded the loss for the Lady Flames; allowing three runs on three hits with one strikeout over three innings of work.
Cooper finished the day with two hits, and an RBI; while Bynum recorded one hit and three RBI.
Shorter will be back in action Thursday, March 27, as they travel to Greenwood, S.C. to take on Lander University in a doubleheader beginning at 4pm.
