Box Score ROME--Shorter softball completed the three game sweep of Christian Brothers with a 4-3 win Sunday afternoon.
The win improves the Lady Hawks to 9-6on the season and 5-1 in conference play. The Lady Bucs move to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the Gulf South.
Chrsitian Brothers got on the board first scoring one run in the first inning, and Gabrielle Sereika singled to bring in Marie Joiner. Shorter tied the game one inning later on a single from
Kendall Johnson to make it a 1-1 game.
In the third inning,
Jackie Castaneda scored the go ahead after reaching base on double.
Kayla Cooper doubled later in the inning to give the Lady Hawks the lead, 3-1. Shorter tacked on an insurance run in the fifth as
Felicia Morris scored on a fly out.
The Lady Bucs mounted a comeback in the seventh scoring twice.
Christina Ezell recorded the win for the Lady Hawks; allowing four hits and striking out seven in seven innings of work.
Maddie Bray faced two batters in the seventh, allowing two runs on two hits, in her first outing of the season. Kasey Beekman picked up the loss for Christian Brothers allowing three runs—one earned—on six hits over four innings of work.
Ericka Bynum and Johnson finished the day with two hits, while Copper recorded one hit and two RBI.
Shorter will be back in action Saturday, March 1, as they travel to Jackson, Tenn. for a three game series with the Lady Bulldogs of Union University.
