Lady Hawks fall to Valdosta State, 10-2

Box Score Valdosta, Ga.--Softball fell to Valdosta State, 10-2, Sunday afternoon in the final game of the three game series with the Blazers.

The loss moves the Lady Hawks to 6-6 on the season and 2-1 in the Gulf South Conference. Valdosta State improves to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

The Blazer scored first to take a 1-0 lead, but Shorter answered with a run of their own an inning later as Paige Rowland homered to make it a 1-1 game. Valdosta went ahead in the fourth 2-1, and added four runs in the fifth to increase their lead to 6-1.

In the top of the six, Shorter's Felicia Morris homered to cut the lead to four, but the Blazers put another four runs on the board in the sixth to earn the win 10-2.

Brianna Hancock earned the win for Valdosta State, allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Christina Ezell recorded the loss for the Lady Hawks, pitching 4.2 innings, while allowing six runs on either hits with two strikeouts.

Shorter will be back in action Wednesday afternoon, February 19, as they travel to Birmingham, Ala. for a doubleheader with Mile College. The games are set to begin at 2:00pm eastern.
