Baseball Set for Weekend Series Against #24 UNC Pembroke

ROME- The Shorter Hawks will hit the road this weekend as they face #24 UNC Pembroke in a three-game series. 


There will be a single matchup for game one on Friday, March 27, commencing play at 6:00 p.m. EST. Saturday, March 28, will feature a double header with games two and three starting at 1:00 p.m. EST and 4:00 p.m. EST, respectively. All games will have live stats available via Sidearm and will be streamed on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.

SCOUTING THE BRAVES

  • UNC Pembroke hosts the Hawks on Friday after getting swept by Young Harris in a home series last weekend, but bouncing back with a close 10-9 win against Wingate on Tuesday.
  • Ferrum sits at 20-9 overall and 12-6 in conference play while posting a13-6 home record.
  • Shorter is 3-8 on the road, aiming to improve this weekend.
  • This series marks the first time both teams have faced off, and Shorter looks to return to the win column with an early advantage.
 

BRAVES TO LOOK OUT FOR

  • Landon Lucas stands out among this Braves roster with a team-high .435 average with 50 hits and nine homers. He also leads in RBIs, sending 50 runners across home this year. Lucas was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on March 9th.
  • Branton Jernigan has brought power from the plate for Pembroke, hitting .375 on the year with a team-high slugging percentage of .861 while also knocking out nine home runs.
