Shorter Set for Weekend Slate Against Emmanuel

ROME- After getting their first conference series win against King last weekend, the Hawks now prepare to keep the ball rolling with a conference series against Emmanuel University on Friday and Saturday.

The Hawks will host Emmanuel at Robert E. Ledbetter Baseball Complex this weekend. Game one will commence on Friday, March 13th at 12:00 p.m. EST, with Games two and three taking place on March 14th at 12:00 p.m. EST and 3:00 p.m. EST, respectively. All games will have live stats available via StatBroadcast and will be streamed on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.

NOTES:

  • Wilmer Henriquez dominated from the plate in the series against King, with a multi-homer game one, while also homering in both games two and three. His efforts paid off and played a key role in Shorter's series win over the Tornado, as well as awarding him the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week.
  • Tanner Folds will start game one for Shorter on Friday, with Saturday's starters being J.D. Wilkins in game two and Jay O'Neal in game three.

SCOUTING THE LIONS:

  • Emmanuel enters the Hill on Friday after dropping their most recent game against non-conference Middle Georgia University, getting shut out in a 6-0 final.
  • Emmanuel sits at 10-13 overall and 7-8 in conference play while going 5-8 on the road this year.
  • Shorter is 7-9 all-time against Emmanuel, falling in their most recent matchup on the road in a 9-6 final on April 30, 2025. At home, however, Shorter is 4-2 against Emmanuel.

LIONS PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR

  • One player for King to look out for is Junior INF Aidan Feather who leads in average (.419), slugging (.624), doubles (10), and RBIs (33) while collecting a team-high 58 bases all season.
  • In the home run department, Sophomore INF Reece Kingeter leads the Lions with five in 2026.
  • On the mound, Junior RHP Hunter Pirkle has yet to lose a game, while striking out 22 batters in 31 innings, with a team-low 5.40 ERA. He also happens to be the older brother of the Hawks' reliever, Harrison Pirkle.
