Box Score ROME- The Shorter Men's Tennis team opened the 2026 spring season in dominant fashion, earning a 7-0 victory over Truett-McConnell on Friday afternoon at the Walt Attaway Tennis Complex.
Shorter set the tone early in doubles play, as the duo of Carlos Tubio and Georgios Tsioumas cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles. At the No. 2 spot, Kalle Johnson and Guido Loayza followed with a 6-3 victory, while Baley Liu and Kamron Palacios sealed the doubles point with a hard-fought 7-6 win at No. 3.
Momentum carried into singles competition, where the Hawks won each match in straight sets except for No. 6 singles. Tubio picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at the top spot, while Loayza, Tsioumas, Johnson, and Liu each earned convincing victories in their respective matches.
Palacios capped off the sweep at No. 6 singles, battling through a three-set match to earn a 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 win and clinch the final point of the afternoon.
