Hawks Set For Weekend Series at Young Harris

ROME- After blanking the Augusta Jaguars for nine innings in a 3-0 victory on Tuesday, the Hawks prepare to enter their third series of conference play against #20 Young Harris this weekend.

Game 1 be played on Friday, February 27, at 4:00 p.m. EST. Games 2 and 3 will commence at 1:00 p.m. EST and 4:00 p.m. EST, respectively, on Saturday, February 28. All games will have live stats available via StatBroadcast and will be streamed on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.

NOTES

  • Tanner Folds, J.D. Wilkins, and Jay O'Neal are likely to start on the mound through the weekend for the Hawks, while the position lineup should look the same as it did against Augusta last Tuesday due to starting injuries.
  • J.D. Wilkins picked up five strikeouts while walking one in five innings during his last start against Francis Marion. In game two against the Patriots, Tanner Folds went four innings, striking out three, but issuing eight walks.
  • Jay O'Neal tool the bump in the final game against Francis Marion, collecting four punchouts and walking five batters in five innings. Folds, however, has shown dominance out of the pen, so there is some room for him to contribute on both ends of the nine frames.
  • Against Augusta, the Hawks' pitching showed out, with the bullpen getting in important reps to shut out the Jaguars offense. Colby Schachtner continued to prove himself as a reliable arm out of the pen.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN LIONS

  • Young Harris enters their conference homestand this weekend on a six-game win streak, sitting at 11-3 overall while boasting an undefeated 6-0 in conference play.
  • Shorter is 5-10 all-time against Young Harris, with the Mountain Lions taking the last contest by a final of 7-2 on April 19, 2025.
  • The Mountain Lions are a formidable offense, scoring ten or more runs in every game against Barton last weekend, including a 17-6 victory last Friday.

MOUNTAIN LIONS TO LOOK OUT FOR
  • One Mountain Lion to look out for is Keypher Contreras, who was named the Conference Carolinas offensive player of the week after going 7-9 against Barton with seven runs scored, nine RBI, four home runs, and a triple.
  • In that series finale against Barton, he hit a whopping three home runs in a single game.
