ROME- After dropping a series on the road against Francis Marion, the Hawks head back to the Hill and will come back for seconds against the Augusta Jaguars after snatching a 10-7 victory from them in Augusta the week prior.Â
The Hawks will commence play at the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex at 1:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday as Augusta looks to bounce back against Shorter, while the Hawks aim to bounce back themselves after suffering a sweep at the hands of the Patriots. All games will have live stats available via StatBroadcast, and will be streamed on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.
Last time out against Augusta, the Hawks displayed some of the best offense we have seen out of them all year. Isaiah Sims had a notable performance against Augusta, going 2-3 with 6 RBIs and hitting his first home run of the season, a grand slam. Drake Cobb went yard as well with a solo shot, and Brooks McKenna chipped in with an RBI single to send around Tyler Zawacki, who went 4-5 at the plate. On the mound, Tanner Folds shut down Augusta's offense during an inning of relief, striking out three.
With Jacob Ramirez still experiencing some elbow discomfort, Grady Parsons is likely to take the mound against Augusta on Tuesday. Parsons has struck out four batters in 10.2 innings so far in 2026. He also started on the mound the last time the Hawks faced Augusta, striking out two while walking one in 3.2 innings to collect his first win of the season.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- Augusta enters Rome a series sweep richer after handling business on the road against Peach Belt opponent USC Beaufort, improving their record to 10-5 overall.
- Augusta is likely to start Sophomore Jackson Cofield, who was Augusta's first man on the mound when they last faced Shorter.
- Cofield has struck out six while walking five in six innings on the rubber in 2026. Should Cofield not start, Jameson Whittier is likely to take the mound after going four innings against Shorter.
JAGUARS TO LOOK OUT FOR:
- Nolan Turner has stepped up at the plate for Augusta, leading in average (.383), hits (23), and RBIs (18). Turner went 1-5 against the Hawks with an RBI single and scoring from the basepaths after reaching on a dropped third strike. Turner has struck out three times against Shorter's pitching, and with him being a proven productive hitter for Augusta, the Hawks just need history to repeat itself.
