GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Shorter women's soccer team was picked to finish 16th in the Conference of the Carolinas preseason poll as announced by the league on Monday.
Shorter received 23 points, with Erskine in front of them with 39 and Ferrum as well tallying 63 points. Francis Marion received the top spot with 206 points, while earning nine first place votes. UNC Pembroke followed closely with 199 points, receiving two first place votes.
The Hawks are looking to prove themselves under first year head coach
Alissa Gembach. The Hawks return three from their roster last season who were recognized as players to watch by the conference.
Danilyn Sheats is looking to capitalize off a strong sophomore season in which she led the Hawks with two goals and four points.
Ashley Marin Mora also returns and is looking to have an impact in her senior year. Mora recorded a goal and two points in the 2024 campaign.
Evann Yake rounds out the Hawks trio for the players to watch category. Yake returns for her junior season after a solid sophomore season in which she scored a goal and recorded two points.
