ROME, Ga.- Shorter University is pleased to announce the naming of Charlie Parker as Sports Information Director for Hawks' athletics. 
 
Parker comes to Rome after spending the previous year at the University of South Alabama where he worked as a Strategic Communications Intern. Parker served as the primary media contact for women's soccer, women's basketball, and women's tennis and also oversaw the social media accounts for each team. 

Prior to South Alabama, Parker worked as a graduate assistant at Belhaven University with the athletic communications department. During his time at Belhaven, Parker assisted with the day-to-day operations for all 15 sports programs and assisted with the marketing and promotion of each team.
 
Parker, a native of Morton, Mississippi, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Relations with an Emphasis on Sports Communications from Belhaven University in 2023. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Parker was a member of the Blazers' basketball program for three seasons. In addition to his Bachelor's degree, Parker's also holds a Master's degree in Sports Administration from his alma mater.
