Charlie Parker enters his first year as Sports Information Director at Shorter University, bringing a strong background in collegiate athletic communications and digital media.
Prior to joining Shorter, Parker served as a Strategic Communications Intern at the University of South Alabama, where he was the primary media contact for women's soccer, women's basketball, and women's tennis. In that role, he managed social media accounts, wrote game recaps and previews, produced game notes, updated record books, and handled in-game statistics.
Before his time at South Alabama, Parker was a graduate assistant in sports information at Belhaven University. There, he supported the day-to-day operations of the athletic department, assisted with statting games and events, contributed written content including game recaps and notes, and played a key role in game day setup and office coordination. During his undergraduate years at Belhaven, Parker was a member of the Belhaven basketball team, playing two seasons from 2020-2022. He was also heavily involved with the university's athletic department, serving as a member of SAAC.
Parker holds a bachelor's degree in Public Relations with an emphasis in Sports Communication, earned in May 2023, and completed a master's degree in Sports Administration in December 2024.
Parker resides in Rome with his wife Neely, and their golden retriever named Pavlov.
