Kade Kitchens earned his second qualification to DII Nationals in as many years with a second place finish in the 165-weight class at the Midwest Super Regional over the weekend in Indianapolis, Ind. hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
En route to the qualifications to nationals, Kitchens went 2-1 for the weekend. After receiving a bye in the opening round, Kitchens earned a 10-6 decision over Alonzo Turner of Findlay in the quarterfinals and a major decision (18-8) win over Jordon Tague of Coker in the semifinals to earn a spot in the championship bout. In the first place match, Kitchens fell to Nick Vandermeer of Lake Erie College 10-8.

Gibson finished 0-2 for the weekend, falling to Airk Furseth of Wisconsin-Parkside via fall in 2:41, and to Nick Lukanich of Belmont Abbey via tech fall (3:00 (18-0)). Harris won his first match of the day to finish 1-2 for the weekend, topping Matthew Rose of Limestone 4-3; before falling to Chandler Minnard of Ashland via fall in 1:29, and to Timmy Martinez of Newberry 4-3. Corasaniti also went 1-2 for the event; topping Bret Shurina of Coker 10-4. Then, falling to Nic Goebel of Findlay via tech fall (4:13 (19-0)), and to Nicholas Leitten of Limestone 5-1.
Carew finished 0-2 for the weekend with losses to Chase Boyd of Tiffin 3-2, and to Brendon Kelley of UIndy by a 16-8 major decision. Turner also finished 0-2 with losses to Jordon Garlow of Coker 17-4, and to Raekwon Reggler 1-0. While, Winters fell to Tyvon Leacock of Coker 12-9 and to Patton Gossett by a 12-2 major decision.
Kitchens will be the lone Hawk to represent Shorter at the DII National Championships March 10-11 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. The sophomore will look to repeat as an All-American, in hopes of bettering his eighth place finish from a year ago.
