At the annual Shorter Open the Hawks fared well, posting a first, second and third place finishes in the 141, 285, and 165 weight classes respectively.
Kalvin Harris took top honors at 141, tallying a 4-0 day to win the class. His first win of the day came over Isaiah Colgan of Southeastern; where he posted a 6-1 decision. Next, he defeated Caleb Mariakis of Reinhardt 12-6, and Caleb Rudisill of Southeastern 8-7. In the 1
st place match he posted a 6-4 decision over Garrett Webb of Life University.
At 285, Bret Winters finished second, going 3-1 for the event. He opened the day with a win over Adam Boyd of Life via fall in :36. Before topping Raynel Brown of Lindsey Wilson via fall in
4:49, and defeating Brandon Hill of Lie 6-2. His lone loss of the day came against Jacob Roza of Life when he was pinned in 4:54, to take second place.
Kade Kitchens was third in the 165 weight class as he finished 4-1 on the day. He opened the day with a win over Joey Nadotti of Southeastern with a TF 22-5, 4:35 decision. Before topped defeating Michael King of Middle Tennessee State via fall in 2:48. In the semifinals he took a loss, falling to Trace Thome of Florida by an 8-6 decision. But, he came back in the consolation semis with another win of Nadotti, turning in a TF 18-2, 1:58 decision and earned third place with a win over Joeseph Mireles of Southeastern 7-2.

The Hawks will be back in action Saturday, December 3, when they travel to Somers, Wis. to take part in the Wisconsin Open hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside.
