Lady Hawks Tennis has now won four straight, adding two wins over the weekend; topping Reinhardt 8-1 on the road on Friday and Gulf South Conference foe, Delta State, 7-2 at the Walt Attaway Tennis Center on Saturday.
The wins bring the Shorter's record to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the GSC.
In both matches, Shorter swept doubles to take 3-0 leads into singles play.
On Friday at Reinhardt, Shorter won all by one singles match in route to the 8-1 one.
Ornella Frere earned the win 6-1, 6-0 at number one.
Cassandra Wennestrom, playing number two, won 6-1, 6-0.
Monika Gredzinski came from behind to force a third game, but in the end earned the win 4-6, 6-2, 10-5.
Daniela Chipe won her matchup 6-2, 6-0 and
Julie Rinderknech earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number five. Shorter, lone loss of the day came at number six as
Sicquena Sinclair dropped her match 6-1, 7-5.
On Saturday against Delta State, the Lady Hawks won four of the six matchups to close out the win 7-2. Frere topped Charlotte Le Flohic 6-3, 6-2.
Agnes Brun earned the win 6-0, 6-1 over Nathalia Sato at number two. Rinderknech defeated Ione' Deroode 8-3 and Wennestrom earned the victory via default. Shorter's losses came at number four and five, respectively, as Gredzinski fell to Alex Howe (6-0, 6-3) and Chipe dropped her match with Celina Stracke 8-6.
Shorter's women will be back in action Wednesday, March 2, when they welcome Lee University to Rome for a 2:00pm start at the Rome Tennis Center.
