The Hawks split the weekend, falling to Reinhardt 6-3 on the road Friday afternoon, before returning to Rome to take on Delta State Saturday morning; earning the win 5-4.
With the split, Shorter's record evens to 4-4 overall; while the Hawks remain perfect at 2-0 in the Gulf South Conference.
On Friday at Reinhardt, Shorter trailed 2-1 after doubles receiving a win at number three at
Robert Watson and
Patrick Sanders earned the win 8-5.
In singles play, the Hawks wins came at numbers three and four as
Jimmy Kerjouan won 0-6, 7-6, 7-6, 10-5. And,
Arthur Amat posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Arthur Tourlousse earned an 8-4 in his match for the day.
Against Delta State, Shorter took a 3-0 lead after doubles, winning each of the matchups.
Louis Tourtois and Kerjouan won 9-8 (7-1).
Talha Zubair and Amat earned an 8-4 victory, and the pair of Watson and Sanders earned a 9-8 (7-5) win at number three.
Kerjouan also won his singles matchup, topping TImo Schmitz 6-2, 6-3 at number three, and Sanders defeated Julian Massa 6-2, 6-1 at number five in route to the 5-4 win.
Shorter's men will be back in action Wednesday, March 2, as Lee University visits Rome for a 2:00pm start at the Rome Tennis Center.Â
