ROME -- Tennis split with Florida Tech Saturday morning with the Lady Hawks topping the Panthers 6-3 and the Hawks taking a 7-2 loss.

Shorter's women move to 3-2 on the season with the win, while the men move to 3-3 overall.

Jumping out to an early lead, the Lady Hawks took all doubles matches to move to singles play up, 3-0. Ornella Frere and Agnes Brun earned the win 8-5 over Natasa Vukovic and Chloe Chanley. At number two, Cassandra Wennestrom and Julie Rinderknech topped Alahna Reto and Meritt Rabson 8-6. And, the pair of Sicquena Sinclair/Daniela Chipe defeated Kayle Hergott/Lauren Stuckey 8-3.

In singles play, the Lady Hawks just needed two victories to earn the win, instead they turned in three. Brun topped Chanley 6-1, 6-1 at number two. Wennestrom defeated Reto 6-3, 6-4. And, Rinderknech topped Mariana Castaneiras 7-6, 6-0 for the 6-3 final score.

On the men's side, Shorter trailed 2-1 after doubles as Louis Tourtois and Jimmy Kerjouan topped Aria Cnadell and Jose Martinez 8-3 at number one.

Kerjouan earned the Hawks only win in singles play, defeating Martinez 6-3, 6-3 at number three.

Both the Hawks and Lady Hawks will be back in action Wednesday, February 24, as they travel to Waleska, Ga. to take on Reinhardt University beginning at 2:00pm.
