Women's Tennis advances to NCCAA Finals

Mobile, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks will look to successfully defend their National Christian College Athletic Association national title from a year ago as they take on Dallas Baptist in Friday's finals after topping Mississippi College Thursday morning 5-1 in the semifinals to advance.

In route to the win over the Lady Choctaws, Shorter dropped its first point in eight matches at the NCCAA national championship dating back to last year's title win; where they won all five matches 5-0. The lone loss of the day came at number two doubles as Aurore Beltrando and Samya El Hsissen fell to Brenna Keller and Courtney Schrock 8-6.

Agnes Brun and Ornella Frere earned the win at number one doubles; topping Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and Christa Owen 8-2. While, Daniela Chipe and Sicquena Sinclair defeated Katie Reid and Karly Matthews 8-2.

To close out the win Shorter needed to win three singles matches; Brun topped Reid (6-2, 6-0), Beltrando defeated Owen (6-0, 6-0), and Sinclair earned the win over Matthews (6-0, 6-3).

Dallas Baptist advanced to the finals with a 5-0 win over Indiana Wesleyan Thursday morning.

Brun and Frere, also, each earned All-Tournament recognition for singles and together for doubles.
