Mobile, Ala. --Â The streak continued Wednesday morning as the Lady Hawks topped McMurry University 5-0 to earn a spot in the NCCAA Women's Tennis National Championship Semifinals; where Shorter will take on fellow Gulf South Conference member, Mississippi College.
The win improves the Lady Hawks to 19-5 on the year; while McMurry moves to 16-5 overall.
Shorter took the lead 3-0 after sweeping doubles play as
Ornella Frere and
Agnes Brun topped Dana LeMieux and Jessica Bentley 8-4.
Aurore Beltrando and
Samya El Hsissen earned the win over Chloe Patterson and Madison Hathorn 8-0, as did
Daniela Chipe and
Sicquena Sinclair over Bree Brosig and Gabby Camacho.
To earn the win the Lady Hawks just needed two wins in singles, and Frere and Brun did just that. At number one singles, Frere, defeated Patterson (6-1, 6-0) and Brun earned the win over LeMieux (6-0, 6-1) at number two.
Shorter will be back in action Thursday morning at 10:00am eastern. Against the Lady Choctaws in the regular season, the Lady Hawks earned the win 5-4.
