Montgomery, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks extended their streak to 8 matches Saturday, topping Delta State (5-0) and Valdosta State (5-2) to advance to the championship match at the Gulf South Conference Tennis Tournament Sunday; where they will take on top seed and 8th ranked, West Florida.
In the first match of the day Shorter made quick work of the Lady Statesmen; jumping out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and securing the win as
Agnes Brun topped Alex Howe (6-0, 6-0) and
Samya El Hsissen defeated Sophie Niemeyer (6-1, 6-1).
Against the Blazers, the Lady Hawks again swept doubles and took the win as El Hsissen remained undefeated on the day with a win over Joanna Lario (6-1, 6-0) and
Daniela Chipe topped Taylor Vinge (6-3, 6-0).
Shorter will now turn its attention to West Florida for the championship. The Argos are the only team that topped the Lady Hawks during the regular season when they earned the win 8-1 on March 6.
