Cleveland, Tenn. --Â The Lady Hawks swept Lee Wednesday afternoon, 9-0, to begin conference play.
Shorter (4-1, 1-0 GSC) took the lead 3-0 sweeping doubles play as each pair recorded the win.
Ornella Frere and
Agnes Brun topped Tonya McGraner and Maclain Yowarsky (8-2),
Samya El Hsissen and
Aurore Beltrando defeated Marta Garcia Nieto and Krista Good (8-2), and
Daniela Chipe and
Sicquena Sinclair earned the win 8-1 over Jodie Rice and Christy North.
The Lady Hawks put the win away winning all six singles matchups. Brun, playing at number one for the first time this season, defeated McGraner (6-2, 6-1). El Hsissen made her debut at number two with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Garcia Nieto. Frere topped Yowarsky (6-4, 6-2), and Beltrando turned in the win over Good (6-1, 6-2). While Chipe (6-0, 6-3) and Sinclair (6-1, 6-0) earned wins over Rice and Morgan Friedlander, respectively.
Shorter will be back in action Friday afternoon, March 6, as West Florida visits the Rome-Floyd Tennis Center for a 2:00pm start.Â
