ROME --Â Shorter tennis returned to Gulf South Conference action Tuesday afternoon with the Lady Hawks topping North Alabama 8-1; while the Hawks fell to the Lions 6-3.
The Lady Hawks (7-3, 3-1 GSC) got things going by sweeping doubles play as
Ornella Frere and
Agnes Brun topped Olivera Ngouabeu and Mayte Calmet 8-7.
Samya El Hsissen and
Aurore Beltrando edged past Natalia Barragan and Avery King 8-3, and
Daniela Chipe and
Sicquena Sinclair defeated Natalia San Jose Moreno and Sydney Childers 8-1.
In singles, the Lady Hawk earned wins in five of the six matches, with the only loss coming at number five as Chipe fell to King 6-2, 2-6, 10-5.
The Hawks (3-7, 1-3 GSC) finished doubles trailing 2-1, with the only win coming at number one doubles as
Alexis Catillon and
Louis Tourtois defeated Guillaume Dechoz and Brendon Millington-Herrmann 8-6.
In singles, the Hawks posted wins at number 5 and 6, with
Arthur Tourlousse defeating Ali Murad 1-6, 7-6, 6-2. And,
Patrick Sanders topping Taylor Ausbon 6-3, 6-1.
Shorter tennis will be back in action Wednesday afternoon as Young Harris visits the Rome-Floyd Tennis Center for a 2:00pm first serve.Â
