ROME -- The Lady Hawk improved to 3-1 on the season with an 8-1 win over Lewis University Saturday afternoon.
Shorter swept doubles play to jump out to an early lead against the Flyers. The pair of
Agnes Brun and
Ornella Frere topped Ana Banic and Nora Mindiyarova 8-4,
Samya El Hsissen and
Aurore Beltrando defeated Megan Nguyen and Jill Wetmore 8-6, and
Sicquena Sinclair and
Daniela Chipe topped Kayla Annerino and Jamie Drez 8-0.
In singles, the Lady Hawks lone loss came at number one, as Frere fell to Mindiyarova (6-3, 6-4). While Brun (6-3, 6-1), El Hsissen (6-2, 6-2), Beltrando (7-5, 6-0), Chipe (6-0, 6-0), and Sinclair (6-0, 6-0) each earned wins.
Shorter will be back in action Wednesday, March 4, as they travel to Cleveland, Tenn. to take on Lee in the first conference matches of the season.
