Box Score ROME--Baseball fell to North Alabama Sunday afternoon, 7-2. The loss drops the Hawks to 12-31 on the season and 7-20in conference play.
The Lions got on the board in the third inning as Brett Guzay singled to bring in two, and added to the lead in the fourth on an RBI single from Tyler Hall. In the fifth, Guzay added another RBI single and then came in to score on an error to give North Alabama a, 5-0, lead.
In the eighth Shorter ended the shutout on an RBI single from
Bryan Mathews to plate
Dylan Riner. One batter
Ian Redetzky delivered a sacrifice fly to bring in
Dustin Evans.
North Alabama added two runs in the ninth for the, 7-2, final score.
Kye Conkle earned the win for the Lions, allowing two runs on two hits with four strikeouts over seven innings of work.
Travis McPherson recorded the loss; pitching five innings, while allowing five runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
Evans, Mathews,
Zach Santos, and
Chad Ikerd each recorded a hit each for the Hawks.
Shorter will conclude the regular season Wednesday, April 30, as they travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. to take on Carson-Newman College.
