ROME--Wednesday, Shorter tennis took to the court for the final time at home for the 2014 season. The Lady Hawks topped Dalton State, 8-1, the Hawks; however, fell to the Roadrunners, 5-4.

The women improved to 13-6 overall on the season with the win, while the men fall to 3-16. Both teams will close out the 2014 regular season at Gulf South Conference foe, Valdosta State Saturday, April 12.

The Lady Hawks, who now post a three game win streak, swept doubles to take, 3-0, lead into singles play. In singles, Shorter won 5-6 the six matches to seal the win.

On the men's side, the Hawks came up just short falling to the Roadrunners, 5-4. Shorter led, 2-1, after doubles as the pairs of Alexis Catillon / Marc Guerry def. Hadyn Fava / Juan Pablo Arguello 8-2, and Robert Watson / Nikola Pavlovic topped Lucas de Souza / David Draghiceanu 8-6.

In singles, however, Dalton State turned things around and earned the win by winning four of the six matches. Shorter recorded victories at No. 1 and No. 3 as Guerry (6-2, 7-6) and Catillon (6-3, 6-2) defeated Draghiceanu and Arguello, respectively.
