Box Score ROME--UAH completed the three game sweep of the Hawks Sunday afternoon; topping Shorter 9-4.
The loss drops the Hawks to 7-14 on the season and 4-7 in conference play.
Shorter got on the board first in the third inning as two runs scored.
Dylan Riner singled to plate
Charlie Gillis, and came into score on
Ian Redetzky's double later in the inning.
The Chargers' Blake Massey homered in fourth to tie the game. Alabama Huntsville took the lead in the fifth, and added an insurance run in the sixth on Ben Hall's homerun; which made it a 5-2 game.
Shorter made it 5-3 in the bottom of the inning when
Bryan Mathews scored on
Dustin Evans' single.
In the ninth, the Chargers tacked on five more runs; while holding the Hawks to one for the final, 9-4, score.
Jacob Croft earned the win for UAH, allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts.
Russell Crosby recorded the loss for Shorter, allowing four runs – three earned – on seven hits with two strikeouts.
The Hawks will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on Stillman College. Game time is set for 4pm EST.
