Box Score Tuscaloosa, Ala.--Baseball used a ninth inning rally to top Stillman Tuesday afternoon, 6-4.
The win improves Shorter to 7-15 on the season.
Stillman took the lead early in the game, scoring in the first, second and third innings to make it a, 4-0, game. The Hawks broke up the shut out in the fifth as
Zach Santos tripled to plate
Dylan Riner and
Bryan Mathews singled to bring in Santos. In the seventh, Shorter cut its lead to one on Santos' single.
The Hawks were trailing, 4-3, as they entered the ninth.
Dustin Evans led off the inning with a single, Riner and
Darrius Jennings followed with ground outs, but with two outs the Hawks rallied. Santos was intentionally walked, and Mathews reached base on an error to load the bases. One batter later,
Ian Redetzky walked plating Evans to tie the game.
Jacob Forrest then delivered the final blow, a 2-run single; giving Shorter the lead 6-4.
Chadd Felder earned the win for the Hawks and Ashton Johnson picked up the loss for Stillman, after allowing four runs – one earned – on five hits through four innings of work.
Riner, Santos, and Forrest each recorded two hits for Shorter in the game.
The Hawks will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they begin a three game series with West Georgia in Carrollton. Saturday's doubleheader is set to begin at 2pm, and Sunday's game will begin at 1pm.
