Box Score Columbus, Ga.--Baseball fell to Columbus State, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon on the road.

The loss drops the Hawks to 4-10 on the season, while the Cougars improves to 10-6 overall.

Columbus State scored twice in the second inning to take the lead, 2-0, on three hits and an error. In the seventh, Shorter scored to avoid the shutout, making it a one run game as Will Harrison flied out to bring in Zach Santos; who reached on a double to lead off the inning.

Bryan Mathews continued where he left off over the weekend, leading the Hawks with two hits on the day. Each—Santos, Darrius Jennings, and Ian Redetzky—recorded one hit in the loss.

Robert Hayes earned the win for the Cougars; allowing no runs on one hit with three strikeouts over five innings of work. Brodie Orr picked up the loss for Shorter; pitching six innings, while allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

The Hawks will be back in action Saturday, March 1, as they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to begin a three game series with Union. Saturday's doubleheader is set to begin at 2pm EST, and Sunday's single game will also begin at 2pm EST.
