Women's tennis falls to AUM, tops GA Southwestern

ROME--Shorter women's tennis took to the court twice this weekend; travelling to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, and then returned home to host Georgia Southwestern on Sunday. In Alabama the Lady Hawks were handed their first loss of the season, 7-2, but stayed perfect at home, topping Georgia Southwestern 9-0.

Shorter now sits at 3-1 on the season, and 1-0 in the Gulf South Conference.

Against AUM, Shorter's only wins came at #1 doubles and #2 singles. The team of Candice Laurent and Aurelie Gaborit earned the win over Jade Curtis and Chanel Cunningham, 8-2. And, Gaborit topped Paula Diaz (6-3, 6-3) to earn the only singles win.

The Lady Hawks swept all matches against Georgia Southwestern on Sunday afternoon to earn the win, 9-0.

Women's tennis will be back in action Thursday, February 20, as they travel to Emory University in Atlanta. Matches are set to begin at 2:00pm.
