ROME--This Friday evening will see the first ever 'Friday Night Futbol' event at Ben Brady Field to celebrate the home openers for the men's and women's soccer programs.

The evening kicks off at 5 PM as the women's team takes on West Alabama, followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM versus Delta State. Both games are Gulf South Conference matchups; the first for the Lady Hawks this season, and the third for the Hawks who began conference play this past weekend posting a 2-0 record.

Dinner will be served in the parking lot of Ben Brady field by Aramark with a suggested donation that will go straight to the Soccer programs at Shorter.

The event will be sponsored by Bella Roma Restaurant and will feature T-shirt giveaways and prizes throughout the evening. As well as, involvement from the local YMCA teams; who will join the players during pre-game activities and then play a small sided game during the half time breaks.

The aim of the event is to provide a great atmosphere for the student-athletes to compete in, as well as bringing together all corners of the community to come to Shorter, grab some food and celebrate 'the world's game' by cheering on the Hawks.

Shorter Men's Coach Paulo Neto said of the event "This is a great initiative to bridge the gap between our Soccer programs, the student population and the Rome Soccer community in general."

"We hope this event will become a tradition for the years to come."
