CALERA, Ala. – The Shorter men's golf team turned in a strong opening day at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational, finishing the first 36 holes in second place after posting a team score of 567 (-1) at Timberline Golf Club. 

 

Neil Patterson paced the Hawks on Monday, carding rounds of 69 (-2) and 70 (-1) to finish the day tied for second individually at 139 (-3). Tommy Harris also finished under par through two rounds, posting scores of 70 (-1) and 71 (E) to sit in fifth place at 141 (-1). 

 

Inigo De Anta delivered one of the best rounds of the day for Shorter, firing a second-round 68 (-3) after opening with a 75 (+4). His 36-hole total of 143 (+1) places him tied for eighth heading into the final round. 

 

Nathan Martin added steady rounds of 72 (+1) and 72 (+1) to finish the opening day tied for 11th at 144 (+2), while Lance Blackburn rounded out the Hawks' scorecard with rounds of 80 (+9) and 81 (+10). As a team, Shorter recorded rounds of 286 and 281 to finish just four shots behind tournament leader Montevallo heading into the final round.
