Mobile, AL — After a long fought three days, the Shorter Hawks Men's Golf team has officially claimed their first runner-up conference title since Shorter joined NCAA DII and the Gulf South Conference in 2014. The Hawks led all three rounds of the tournament up until the end with combined team scores of 286, 284, and 284. Four of five players floated throughout the top 15 over the week. Cameron Spehar shot a season best of 70 (-2) to help keep his team in the driver's seat most of the day. Along with teammates Jean Louis du Plessis, Blake Henriques, Isaac MacNaughton, and Baptiste Touchard who all finished in the Top 15. They all individually ranked impressively in the Top 25 in a field of 50. Jean Louis du Plessis finished 2nd overall with a combined score of 211 (-5) over the three day tournament. This second place finish helped the Hawks beat out defending Conference and National Champions, the Lee University Flames by 14 strokes. The Hawks hope to claim a big to NCAA DII regionals and continue their monumental performance this season as the NCAA Tournament begins in May.
