GSC Announces Spring All-Academic and Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-- The Gulf South Conference announced their All-Academic and Honor Roll on Tuesday, June 21st. Women's Golfer, Averi Schrews, was selected to be on the GSC All-Academic team. 
  • 1,198 Spring sport student-athletes were named to the honor roll.
  • Five institutions had a 100 or more student-athletes named to the honor roll — Montevallo (166), Lee (136), Alabama Huntsville (118), Mississippi College (106) and Shorter (101).
  • 77 percent of honor roll names had a 3.3 GPA or better, which included 247 student-athletes between 3.5-3.69, 366 between 3.7-3.99, and 109 that posted a 4.0.
  • Baseball had the most student-athletes recognized with 306, followed by softball (195), women's track & field (132), women's lacrosse (129), and men's track & field (127).
  • 20 All-Academic team selections returned from 2020-21 … UWF's Juan Cabrera earned his fifth All-Academic nod, while nine others received their third.

ALL-ACADEMIC

All-Academic nominees must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA to qualify, as posted on the student-athlete's official transcript. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration, nor is any student-athlete who has not spent a full year in residence at the sponsoring GSC school and has passed 24 semester hours or 36 quarter hours that count towards an identifiable degree program during the year at that school. No one is eligible for an All-Academic Team until he/she has attained at least sophomore academic status at that school. NOTE: COVID-freshman are eligible so long as they meet the academic and GPA requirements.

Additionally:

  • The All-GSC Academic Team nominees must be a starter or significant contributor. Candidates must have lettered in the current year in order to be eligible.
  • Although the threshold for selection is grade point average, other factors such as leadership, academic curriculum, community service, etc., may be considered when determining the All-GSC Academic Team.

        

All student-athletes who achieved a 3.00 GPA or better (out of a possible 4.00) during the Fall 2021 term and competed against outside competition during the regular season or postseason, will be recognized. Student-athletes who practiced, but did not compete against outside competition, are not eligible.
